As a founder who cares about building a diverse company, I’ve taken a lot of advice from Ben Herman (he/him) as he builds out one of the most important and impressive companies I’ve seen - Jumpstart. They’ve collected data from over 880,000 job applicants on the Jumpstart platform, so one of the most comprehensive data sets in the industry. Today they released their Diversity Trend Report 2020 and it’s well worth a read:

Building an emerging brand takes an authentic and consistent mission. And there's no better example then Sanzo. Over the last few years I've watched Sandro Roco carry a focused message into the world: "I want to bridge cultures by connecting people to authentic flavors." This message is validated by things like a $10M Series A (congrats!), but it comes to life in the day-to-day actions of his business. For me, their voice and tone, posts and campaigns always feel familiar. Take their latest collaboration with Pixar. Yes, there's a limited edition 12-pack, but what's more is that the campaign is extremely mission-aligned. It supports a film that is bridging the gap between East and West and 5% of all proceeds will be donated to CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment). As we've started to invest in Air's go-to-market it's been super helpful to have these examples to learn from.

I wanted to share this outbound email (with her permission, of course) that I just got from ♦ Brandi Sigears at Drift. Very few outbound emails are personalized these days, so this one really stood out. I'm excited to meet with Brandi and learn more about what Drift can do for Webflows sales team. Here is what really stood out and caught my eye: 1.I loved the personalization and question she dropped in about my leadership team. It shows she did her research, and it helps make "future state" more real. I know that this was not a mass blast - and I appreciate that. 2. Selling with the customer reference and use case (Gong) is also great - it builds credibility. She happened to pick a company that I really admire and have great friends at, so I've already been able to reach out to them to learn how they use a tool like Drift. 3. I love Brandi's use of images in the email! Really caught my eye and made it stand out, breaking up a text block. Finally, I liked her subject line. I knew exactly what the message would be about, and it wasn’t click bait. Using someone's name in a subject line is a great way to catch their eye. ♦ Brandi Sigears - consider us a live opportunity. Move us into Discovery. We can't wait to learn what you could potentially do for our growing team!
